I saved all my drafts in one long continuous document while writing Medeus. Since I wrote an outrageous amount of drafts I have put them into categories stating the main differences between them and what my process and thought were on that era of drafts

The Writing

DRAFTS

Here you will find a link to the different drafts that came to be and see the evolution to the final piece.

These first drafts were done at the beginning of the project. They were based on a thought of what would happen if Medea met Jason on a blind date at a bar or restaurant, in a modern time

These drafts was an attempt at placing Medea in her own time waiting for an unknown hero. I felt very limited in these drafts, forcing myself in place. This Medea felt too regulated, and too done with the events of the original story making it less engaging

Here is when I allowed myself to let go a bit and be more playful with the world i created. While on a walk, with my course mate Pilar Mendoza, I was reminded of that this is my piece and I don’t need to bind myself to the every truth in the source text. Thus, Medeus was born!

I’ve called these drafts “dancing in the dark”. In these drafts there was a hostage situation going on, with Jason being trapped by Medeus

Here is the final version of the play. There were changes done to it both before and after I “finalized” it, but this is were it came to the stage.
